In archaeological excavations detailed geometrical findings must be quickly surveyed and recorded in CAD drawings. As well as the geometry of the findings there is much more information that needs to be documented, such as ground conditions, stratigraphy, objects found and the time and date of the find. The recording of the geometry as well as the documentation of the attribute data must be trustworthy. Re-surveying is usually not possible as the already recorded areas will be destroyed by further excavations.
A data structure used for recording the attribute data must be flexible as every excavation is different to all others. For typical excavation situations there are predefined, adaptable templates ready to use that can be quickly and simply adjusted to the particular requirements.
With FARO software the collected or managed data exist as an AutoCAD drawing file in a standard format that will still be readable in decades to come.

PhoToPlan allows the geometrically correct and true to scale rectification of photographs of level areas such as in excavation sections or on artificial levels.
The rectified photos are directly embedded into AutoCAD by using control points and they serve as documentation, for example for ground colourings and precise detailing.

With and without CAD VirtuSurv facilitates the quick, simple and very clear processing of 3D point clouds from almost all available scanners. CAD software can be used, but it's not absolutely necessary. The interface to all Windows programs allows the transfer of pre-formatted data into Excel, for example.
